the happiest place on earth

the-californianssan-diegociao-for-now
I think it’s obvious that we had an amazing time on our San Diego vacation. Aside from the warmth, lack of snow, and best company, it was the perfect April getaway. San Diego has always been one of my favorite cities to be in – my happy place. This trip was nothing short of that. We love you Joe and Alyson!! Thanks for making our trip so much fun!

sister weekend

sister-weekend
It’s Friday and I’m officially off juice and onto Sister Weekend!! My baby sis and I have been having Sister Weekends long before she could talk, crawl, or sleep through the night! I love this one to pieces and now that she’s getting older (and sleeps through the night) our weekends continue to be more and more fun. This time around Sister Weekend will be spent in Stillwater due to her carefully arranged Super Bowl bash, complete with Valentine’s for every guest. She’s been planning since last week. And I’m serious. We share that “I love to plan” gene. Looking forward to a weekend filled with Cake Boss, Webkinz, interpretive dance and a cushion bed! xo

Christmas Crazy

christmas-crazy
We kicked off Christmas in Indiana where we celebrated Borntrager-style. We were lucky enough to completely dodge two major blizzards – one on the way and one on the way home. I guess if there’s ever a reason to get up at 5 AM, that would be a good one! We continued Christmas festivities back home in Minnesota spending a few days at the cabin in true Reichow fashion. It was a week full of family and fantastic food! We spent lots of time around the Christmas trees enjoying good company. We are a lucky bunch!

feels like mad men

The Mad Men surprise was a hit!! These photos speak for themselves so I’ll try not to babble on too much. We successfully pulled of a surprise 30th birthday party for Amy. She is not the easiest person to keep a secret from … especially one that twenty of her closest friends know about but somehow we did it (thank you to EVERYONE for celebrating, showering Amy with 30th birthday love and dressing to the nines in your Mad Men attire – let’s do it again next weekend). I’ll spare you my stories of visiting every Goodwill in the Twin Cities at least three times each for party prep and Mad Men decor and say that most importantly, Amy rolled into a new decade very loved and surrounded by a mess of Mad Men!

marathon MEN!

This weekend I cheered on two of my favorite guys at the Twin Cities Marathon. I left the finish line truly inspired and sooooo proud of our boys! As annoying as Brent and Barrett’s running schedules have been to my social calendar over the summer (i.e. no whooping it up Saturday night … have to run umpteen miles on Sunday morning at the crack of dawn), I am in awe of the dedication, commitment (are dedication and commitment the same thing?), strength, and determination these two exposed while gearing up for one crazy-long race. I am also thankful that Brent and Bear are tight – their running “partnership” allowed me to partner up with my sis and enjoy some bonus coffee shop / shopping time with her and my nephew.

All in all, the boys rocked the marathon and motivated me to do a little more running  … next summer.

A HUGE THANK YOU to the enormous support system / cheerleaders that lined the marathon route, shouted encouragement, drew signs, and/or jingled cowbells for Brent and Barrett. The love was definitely felt – I am so grateful for you all!

vermillion vacation

Not sure that our long weekend up in Vermillion needs much more explanation than the above, but I will still tell you we had a great time! (Amy has obviously improved her range of motion since her appearance in Couple’s Retreat.) Seriously though, watching this video makes me more tired than the most tired I was during vacation.

My Dad was able to escape the job site in Nebraska and Joe and Alyson flew in from California to make our first all family trip complete. It was a dream to have our “out-of-towners” with us for so many days. It made everyone thirsty for the day we all reside together in good ‘ol MN again.

We played together like most families do while up north, but added saving a bird that flew into the cabin window and crawfish hunting to our agenda. Joe and Brent tried out the wake board that had been resting in the attic for a few years, we all enjoyed plenty of campfire and played what was possibly too much Farkle. Oh. And the food! We definitely didn’t go hungry! That’s how we do it on Reichow family vacation!!

season of sweet

sweet summer! we attended a rockin’ wedding on friday night, woke up saturday morning to welcome baby Harper Elizabeth into this world and rounded out the remainder of the weekend soaking up sun and swimming with “sisters” (*critch and biological) between Stillwater and the cities. the weekend was bursting with love for best friends, babies, family, and what i think is going to be one hot summer. bring on the sweetness!

*critch: (noun) sisters from another mister + mama; siblings you adore born to parents different from your own

little people

Between Friday night and Monday I filled many hours with the little people I love. Addison spent the weekend in the cities for a “sister weekend” (which included spa night and garage sales) and on Monday she graduated from preschool. It seems totally crazy that Addison will be in kindergarten next year! She was just Finn’s size! Before we know it, little Finner will be walking in preschool cap to grab his diploma. Being big sister and Auntie to two of the most adorable little people makes me feel pretty darn happy.

pssst … to keep up with the Stoks, check out their own spot on the world wide web here.
