the happiest place on earth

I think it’s obvious that we had an amazing time on our San Diego vacation. Aside from the warmth, lack of snow, and best company, it was the perfect April getaway. San Diego has always been one of my favorite cities to be in – my happy place. This trip was nothing short of that. We love you Joe and Alyson!! Thanks for making our trip so much fun!

runs in the family

Today was the first race of the season for a few of the family (not me). Barrett, Brent, and our good friend Justin ran a quick 10k right before this morning’s rain and Amy breezed through her first running race since Baby Finn was born. I played babysitter, which I  love much more than running!

ring in spring

Spring may seem like an unlikely choice when choosing your favorite season – but it is mine! April is when I celebrate my birthday (month of the diamond – holler!), but I am also a fan of the typically rainy month because springtime brings so many things to life that we wait all winter for … like green anything and that glimmer of hope that snow might actually be gone for good! I don’t have much to complain about since we had a mild winter here in Minneapolis – but I will still enjoy the first smells of fresh cut grass and wet rain. Come on sunshine!

The new season brings an outstanding excuse to pick up a few new things – whether it be allergy medicine or a new hair color, everyone can think of a few items they need to help ring in spring. Maybe one or two of these will top your list this April:

  1. Tall Hunter Rain Boots in Yellow: Can you really buy a rain boot in any color other than classic yellow? No. These classic beauties ($125) make rain fashionable and puddle splashing more fun.
  2. SpaRitual Nail Lacquer Water Collection (Spring 2012): This vegan nail polish (yes – it’s actually good for your nails) comes in 6 new spring colors – and as a bonus 20% of all proceeds made from the Water Collection goes to Surge. Why not pick up a few new pastels (available at JUUT)?
  3. Paige Denim in Day Break: I’d take a pair of these in any color but with a push of spring tones coming our way, why not go all our and splurge on a pair of pretty pastel paige denim ($179)?
  4.  Whole Foods Lemon Italian Sparkling Spring Water: If your looking for a bubbly beverage to quench your thirst, Whole Foods sparkling spring water is the way to go. Lemon not your thing? It comes in a variety of other flavors!
